Riri’s Collaboration with River Island
It has been speculated for months that singer/actress
Rihanna is looking to collaborate with one of the most successful companies on
British high street. River Island has over 260 stores across the UK as well as
internationally. The store is well known for its stylish and affordable items
along with the distinctive notion they add to their collections. River Island is
highly popular and includes a variety of different items that is sure to
attract and appeal many individuals, whether it's denim you're searching for or
fabulous bags and shoes, whatever you desire; the store already has it simply
because their primary goal is to focus on every body's sense of taste. Whilst
on that note, many believe that this is the essential aspect of the company that
ensures River Island to stand out from other high street shops.
In July 2012, it was confirmed that the ‘Diamond’ hitmaker
is set to design her first capsule collection with the high street shop.
Rihanna recently claimed "I have wanted to design my own collection for
some time, River Island is the perfect partner for me to collaborate with and
working with a British family run business really appealed to me". She
added "I find London really inspiring and I'm really looking forward to
working with them and creating something special.
The British retail store announced that they are
excited to be collaborating with the singer, and to be the first fashion brand
to be working with her in this way. Furthermore; River Island chief executive
‘Ben Lewis’ also added to this statement, he claimed “Rihanna is a style icon,
from street to chic she enjoys her fashion. As soon as we started to work
together we knew this was a perfect fit. Rihanna will be designing the
collection and we will be sharing our fashion experience with her to develop a
range her fans will love.”
We are expected to find her first capsule collection in stores as of spring 2013.
The Bajan Pop Star is known for her unique sense of
style and most of the time we see this in her music videos as well as the
events that she attends; this can be good for the collaboration as it will
increase the appealing aspect of the range. Additionally, it will also add a
touch of diversity which will immediately help the clothing line be captured by
various individuals. This collaboration can either be a good idea or a
disaster; however, whatever we are presented with, it has been declared by
Rihanna herself that there will be something for everyone.
Rihanna (aged 24) has already dropped many hints on
what to expect from her first range of clothes; she describes the clothing line
to be edgy as she wants there to be character within the outfits but without
going overboard with the concept; in addition, the R&B star has also
confirmed that she is hoping to target her first capsule collection at mostly
teenage girls. She recently told Vogue “the kids say what’s cool and the
designers go and design it; I wanted all type of girls to be able to wear this
and feel comfortable yet edgy.”
